Over the past week, I’ve been enjoying all the spring growth and flowers starting to bud up and bloom.

While surfing around the net, I came across this event: Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk and decided to bite the bullet and register for the Wellington walk. There were around 30,000 photographers joining in for a photowalk on Saturday 18th July in cities all over the world. Our Wellington group all met at the lookout at the top of the Cable Car – around 30-40 of us. We all wandered down through Botanical Gardens – clicking all the way, down through the Bolton Street Cemetery, passed Parliament Grounds, onto the Wharf and along Queens Wharf, up into Civic Square, up Cuba Mall/Street and finished up with lunch at the Southern Cross bar/restaurant. The day started off a little gloomy but by the time we reached Cuba Mall, the sun was out and it was just lovely with people out and about everywhere enjoying their week-end. Although I didn’t know a soul, it was easy enough to get small conversations going with various ones and learn a little off others. The group unfortunately did get quite split up and I think quite a few didn’t make it to the end. I enjoyed tagging along with an Australian family – Werner, his wife and daughter who were enjoying visiting Wellington and another lovely guy Brendon who were all great company. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and went away feeling very inspired and more confident to click away at things in public spaces. I would love to go on another photowalk one day so will be keeping my eyes and ears open for another one. The walk was all organised via Flickr Groups. I have been very inspired looking through everyone’s uploads of their version of the day too. Amazing work. Thank you! Below are a few of my favourite shots of the day…
